Nsuo Bɛyɛ Boɔ Den

The collaboration on the cover art for my upcoming poetry exhibition and album, Nsuo Bɛyɛ Boɔ Den, came together beautifully in London. The talented Ghanaian-British painter Joshua Donkor perfectly captured the essence of the project by surrounding the portrait with fragments of newspaper headlines and political documents, symbolizing the censorship that often clouds reality for many Ghanaians.

We first connected during my 2024 residency in the United Kingdom, where I was performing and recording kumbaya, the album commissioned by Jinn Records. It will be released before Nsuo Bɛyɛ Boɔ Den across Brighton and London.

Through conversations at his studio, the idea for Nsuo Bɛyɛ Boɔ Den, which loosely translates to “What will water do to stone?”, grew out of our shared discussions on truth, suppression, and resilience. The poems in this collection are intended to act as a voice strained against today’s society, evoking the power of water to wear down even the hardest stone. But, like the stone, we must endure, resist, and bring hidden truths into the light.
